Chapter 1 – The green carpet pond

Can you imagine a huge pond filled with green leaves that trick your eye to give an illusion of a carpet? I thought they are lotus leaves but when I looked closer they are just a thick green chunky short leaves which covered the complete pond like a carpet, I would have just assumed the whole area as a land if my mother didn’t tell me it’s a deep pond. The pond is pretty low on the ground say about 15 feet. I was too little to stand in the edge and measure the distance by myself, I might have end up on the fake carpet and got sucked by the water.

Every year when the school starts it’s always a Manson season, All my happily worn new uniforms will be completely soaked by the our lovely rain friend. Sometime we just love our rain friend playing for hours with my girlfriends, making paper boat after the rain stops. We used to build rivers and bridges with the collective rain water at my home land. My school is almost 2 kilometre walk my from home. My house is very close to the mountain, the fields are bit sloppy so I walk slow from my house street then I claim up to the main road which has stone road in the middle and both the sides have a water reservoir. It looks like a three way road for my little feet. Further I walk more there is a big pink circle villa. They always have blooming flowers of pink, yellow , red and white. I wonder how many rooms they have inside. It’s looks like a castle from outside. But there is no king lives there. It’s just an old grandfather restirement house.

I have many segments to cross by in my everyday school walk. Here it’s a haunted old plot with a tiny house abaneded for years. There is a cemetery outside the house as well which is extremely dirty and scary. Most of the stories I heard of this place are horrible ghost rides. So, I close my one eye and walk very quickly as much fast as possible in this way. Then I reach the entertainment segment which has a very colourful fancy stores and a cinema hall. I really slow down and watch every details of the street. I make a note of all the beautiful things I wants to buy from them and move on. Here comes a municipality building which is the first shortcut to my school, I move inside the building and watch over the new bricks, road material and other stuffs goes for the construction then move to the back door to cross the street. My father purchased a piece of land near that street. As a responsible daughter I just check on the land and count the trees and just admire the mango tree and measure the well water level finally i leave the plot to walk further to my school.

Now I reached the pond street , it’s very green and beautiful it’s almost 800meter long on the street side, it’s just an awesome breeze touches my face and I always smile and walk feeling that fresh cool vibes. The pond water is always covered by the green plants but occasionally some guys do fishing in that pond, they remove the plants then you can see through the dark green muddy water. When it rains the water level goes upto 5 feet but still not height enough for me to touch them. Now I’m close to my school when I cross my second shortcut route it has huge tamarind trees I pick some of the young ones to munch it’s sour but delicious, I love that taste. Since I’m closer to my school I roughly tidy up my school cloths and cross the main road to my school road, now it’s all my school friends hurrying for the morning prayer assembly. Ding ding the school rang, I had to go otherwise I will be late, see you in my next chapter. Bye!
